Brighton Central School District

Idea:
· Create several different “courses”. (Wikis, Blogs, Delicious, Google Reader, Google Docs)
· For each course we give teachers 20 weeks to learn and familiarize themselves with a Web 2.0 Application.
· We give them another 20 weeks to implement use of tool in their classrooms or for their own learning and reflect on how it worked.
· We can structure it similarly to PLP, with a few face to face meetings (1 each quarter?) with a majority of the work a done on-line with periodic communication and feedback.
· We will have several, incremental “benchmarks” to achieve. This can be done mainly by requiring “homework” of posting a reflection to a wiki or a blog. Give them very specific questions to answer or specific tasks to achieve. GOAL: Increase the sharing and be able to monitor progress and get feedback. Post to a building wiki, but have a district wiki with links to the four building wikis. These could be used as resources each time the course is offered. For example:
· Participants earn “credit” at each benchmark. Move them along the path.
· GOAL: Train a few “experts” per building. Instead of having K12 PD, have building specific PD. Rationale: More flexible, easier to arrange meetings, more chances for “face to face follow up and support”.

Example:
WEEKS 1 THROUGH 10: INTRODUCTION
WEEKS 11 THROUGH 20: INCREASING SKILL AND EXPERIMENTATION
WEEKS 21 THROUGH 30: EXPERIMENTATION / APPLICATION IN CLASSES
WEEKS 31 THROUGH 40: CONTINUED PRACTICE AND REFLECTION
